FRED ASTAIRE

Where would the world of tap dance be without him?

“The higher up you go, the more mistakes you are allowed. Right at the top, if you make enough of them, it’s considered to be your style.”

– Fred Astaire

From Wikipedia:

“Fred Astaire (born Frederick Austerlitz; May 10, 1899 – June 22, 1987) was an American dancer, singer, actor, choreographer and television presenter. His stage and subsequent film and television careers spanned a total of 76 years, during which he made 31 musical films and several television specials and issued numerous recordings.”

Most people know Fred Astaire’s main dance partner as Ginger Rogers. But Ginger actually didn’t do a whole lot of tapping…

Eleanor Powell, on the other hand, was one of the best. She’s lesser known than Ginger, but gosh, what a lady. When Fred and Eleanor tap danced together, it was magic.

Ah. Magic.

I hope it brightens your day.
